US generals 'will quit' if Bush orders Iran attack

Tension in the Gulf region has raised fears that an attack on Iran is
becoming increasingly likely before President George Bush leaves
office. The Sunday Times has learnt that up to five generals and
admirals are willing to resign rather than approve what they consider
would be a reckless attack.

"There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would
resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran," a source with close ties to
British intelligence said. "There is simply no stomach for it in the
Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be
effective or even possible."

A British defence source confirmed that there were deep misgivings
inside the Pentagon about a military strike. "All the generals are
perfectly clear that they don't have the military capacity to take
Iran on in any meaningful fashion. Nobody wants to do it and it would
be a matter of conscience for them.

"There are enough people who feel this would be an error of judgment
too far for there to be resignations."

A generals' revolt on such a scale would be unprecedented. "American
generals usually stay and fight until they get fired," said a Pentagon
source. Robert Gates, the defence secretary, has repeatedly warned
against striking Iran and is believed to represent the view of his
senior commanders.

I wouldn't believe Robert Gates for one second. If Bush told him to jump, Gates would say "How high?" , If Bush told him to kill, Gates would say, "How many?"

Yes, I'm pretty sure you are "dead' right. Lurdly went to Iraq today to urge our troops to keep on killing the Iraq people. His plane suffered a malfunction and Lurdly was forced to put on a smoke mask,,, the plane had to make an emergency landing,,,,and he was transferred to another plane.

Frankly Sludge, I'd prefer to see all countries declare war on the US. If I was an American Citizen, I'd vote for the Loch Ness Monster over any other US citizen, and I'd consider L Ron Hubbard an honest elder statesman in the light of the rest of the religious thieves to come out of that "hell on earth" (that glorious Soddom and Gemorrah) that calls itself the USA.

The US Civil war was a failure, and that's why the whole country is out attacking and molesting other innocents in other countries (like Iraq) and claiming that it's all in the name of freedom.

So, when it comes to your argument about defending Europe against the USSR or the rest of the world against Hitler, I say: who's protecting the whole world against the USSA?
